Funeral Services

A funeral service is a celebration that a life has been lived. There are many options to funeral service. We offer funeral services of your choice, assisting your family in planning a funeral and choosing the options that suit your families needs and your loved ones wishes.

Pre-Planning

By pre-planning and funding your funeral service in advance, you determine how you will be remembered.  You also relieve your family of all the decisions that must be made at the time of need.  We offer pre-arrangement plans to fit all budgets and lifestyles.

For more information on pre-planning please fill out our online pre-planning form.

Online Memorials

We can set up an online memorial for your loved one. Our online memorials provide information for guests about the funeral services and also provide a tribute to your loved one. Guests will be able to gain information about dates, times and locations of funeral services and sign a guest book through the memorial. The family will have access to the memorial to add photos to create a photo gallery for their loved one. By providing information to guests about services, our online memorials help lessen the load on a family during a difficult time. The memorials also serve to pay tribute to your family's loved one.

Obituaries

We will prepare an obituary to be published for your loved one.

Veteran's Benefits

Any deceased veteran with an honorable discharge from the service is entitled to a flag and marker.  As a funeral home we will need a copy of the discharge papers to file the required paperwork.

The marker is provided free of charge to any entitled veteran, however the government is not responsible for the costs to install the marker in private cemeteries.

VA Burial Allowances are only available to those who qualify. If the deceased Veteran fits the criteria for this benefit we will file the necessary paperwork.

Social Security

We will notify the Social Security Administration of the death. After Social Security has been notified, the surviving spouse and or dependant children will receive a letter.  This will tell you if any action is needed on your part.  If you have any other questions regarding your benefits, you may also contact them by phone.  The number for the Maryville Office is (660) 582-7151 or the St. Joseph Office (816) 233-2511.

Death Certificates

The death certificate becomes a permanent record with the registrar of vital statistics in the county in which the death occurs.  The death certificate is to be signed by the attending physician at the time of death or the coroner in the event of an unattended death.  After the death certificate is signed, it will be filed and the certified copies will be issued.
