Biography

Virginia E. Slagle, 90 of Stanberry passed away, Saturday April 14, 2012.

Virginia was born January 21, 1922, the daughter of George and Neola (Wilson) Walton. On August 24, 1940, she married Ivan H. Slagle. They were the parents of two sons, Ivan Harper Jr. and Ronnie M. Slagle. Ronnie preceded her in death in 1994.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, George, Charles, Robert, Herbert, Phillip and sisters, Glenna & Betty.

Survivors: son, Harper (Betty) Slagle; daughter-in-law, Paula Slagle; grandchildren, Michelle, Melissa, Preston, Donnell and Andrea; great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Cole, Allie, Jessica, Mitchell; great-great-grandchild, Brock; brother, Dr. Dean (Nina) Walton; Sister, Mary Francis (Bob) Lyerla; several nieces & nephews.

Virginia was involved in 4-H when her boys were small. She was a member of the Stanberry United Methodist Church and P.E.O Sisterhood. In 1966, she received her LPN license and began working at Gentry County Memorial Hospital in Albany and then went to work at King City Manor until her health failed. She was a resident of Pineview Manor for the last few years.
