Obituary

Agnes Ruby (Chenoweth) Langford, 88 of Albany passed away Monday, November 1, 2010 from renal failure while under Kansas City Hospice home care at her son's home in Kansas City, Missouri. Agnes was born January 28, 1922, southwest of Darlington, Missouri on the Chenoweth family farm. She was the sixth of nine children born to Delner & Inace (Gillespie) Chenoweth. She attended and graduated from Darlington School in 1939. On September 17, 1939, she married Marion Edward Langford. To this union two sons were born. Marion and Agnes, together with Marion's brother, Bud and his wife,Velma, operated a plumbing business in Albany for many years and after Bud's death in 1966, Marion and Agnes continued in the plumbing business until Marion's death in 1989. Agnes was active in the First Baptist Church in Albany her entire adult life, serving in various capacities. She is known for her untiring volunteer efforts in the church, visiting the elderly and sick and in later years worked Mondays as a volunteer in the Albany Senior Center. Agnes was also known for her homemade pressed flower cards she sent to family and friends on special occasions. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Dorothy Hammond, Goldie Boatright and Auda Bratcher, two brothers, Robert and Clyde Chenoweth. Survivors: Sons, Ron (Jenny) Langford, Kansas City, MO; Neil (Sharon) Langford, Albany; Brothers, Emmett Chenoweth, Darlington, MO; Cliff Chenoweth, Kansas City, MO; Sister, Gladys Dannar, Grant City, MO; Grandchildren, Mitch Langford, Independence, MO; Wes (Megan) Langford, St. Louis, MO; Jason Langford; Staci (Kris) Hansel; Brenda (David) Smith, all of Albany; Great-Grandchildren, Miles Langford, St. Louis; Marley Hansel; Jenna and Jarrett Smith, Albany; and numerous nieces and nephews.
