Obituary

Alan Paul McConkey, 84, of Albany, passed away Monday, February 13, 2017 at Northwest Medical Center in Albany.

Alan was born November 13, 1932 in Albany.  He was the son of John Paul and Doris Elaine (Weddle) McConkey.

Alan was united in marriage to Harriet Jane Bower, July 16, 1955. She preceded him in death November 16, 2007.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, son David McConkey and his brother John McConkey.

Alan served in the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Albany First Presbyterian Church, past master and a 50 year member of the Athens Lodge #127 A.F. & A.M., Albany York Rite, St. Joseph Scottish Rite, past member of Moila Shrine Temple, St. Joseph.

In 1954, Alan received the Albany JC's Outstanding Young Farmers Award and that same year he received the 100 year Centennial Farm Certificate.

Survivors: sons, Bob (Denise) McConkey, Albany; Larry (Shelly) McConkey, Albany; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Service and Burial: 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 15 at the Grandview Cemetery, Albany.  The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Tuesday evening at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany, where friends may call anytime after 2:00 PM Tuesday.  Memorial Contributions:  McConkey Family Memorial Scholarship Fund for the Albany FFA in care of the Roberson-Polley Chapel, 403 N.
