Obituary

Ann Lee “Annie” Halstead passed away peacefully on Monday, November 2, 2026, surrounded by family at her bedside. Annie was born on October 19, 1929, to James Robert Richards and Delia (Chipps) Richards. On December 14, 1947, she married Nicholas Bradford “Brad” Halstead. Together, they were blessed with two daughters, Lana Twaddle and Barbara Findley.

Though small in stature, Annie had a larger-than-life personality. She had a quirky little smile that could melt your heart, and it often did. She had a way of making everyone around her feel special, and her fun-loving spirit was impossible to forget. Annie worked at the Rival factory in Albany for 13 years. She often joked that they had given her one of the worst jobs in the factory, but she was determined to outlast them. And she did! Annie proudly walked out on the very day the factory closed its doors. After years of working and lovingly caring for her husband, Brad, during his battle with Parkinson’s disease, Annie found a new chapter in life filled with fun, friendship, and adventure. And boy, did she make the most of it! Annie had a true zest for life and loved nothing more than being on the go. She and her best friend, Collette Barger, could often be found driving anywhere and everywhere throughout Northwest Missouri. Whether shopping, going out to eat, or simply enjoying the day together, the two were always up for an adventure. Annie was an active member of the Albany Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed reading her daily devotionals, working crossword puzzles, and hand sewing.

Above all, Annie adored her family, especially her three granddaughters, Melissa, Angela, and Amanda, whom she loved and spoiled every chance she got. Her home in Albany was a favorite gathering place for the girls and their friends. There was always a favorite snack waiting and plenty of ice cream in the freezer. Annie loved hosting the girls during school events and was determined to capture every special moment with the perfect picture. She was always trying out a new camera, although sometimes the film wasn't loaded or the flash didn't quite cooperate. Those moments became cherished memories of a grandmother who never wanted to miss a thing.

In her later years, Annie was excited to move to her daughter Barbara’s home in Siloam Springs, where she continued to be loved and spoiled. She treasured visits from her granddaughters and their growing families, especially during summer camps and holiday gatherings. And Annie certainly wasn't ready to slow down! Barbara made sure she never missed her standing hair appointment, and there was always time for lunch in town. Annie enjoyed the peaceful country setting and found a special companion in Gunner, the family dog, who became her best friend.

Annie is survived by her daughter, Barbara Findley; her granddaughters, Melissa (Rob) Cole, Angie (Kirk) Davis, and Amanda (Ben) Fletcher; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Bradford “Brad” Halstead; her daughter, Lana Twaddle; her parents, James Robert and Delia Richards; and her brother, James Robert “Bobby” Richards Jr.

Annie lived a long life filled with love, laughter, and a little bit of mischief. She taught those around her that life was meant to be enjoyed, that there was always time for a little fun, and that the people you love are life's greatest blessing. Grandma Annie was truly one of a kind. She may have been small, but the love she gave and the memories she leaves behind are immeasurable. Everyone loved Annie, and everyone who knew her was lucky to have been loved by her.
