Anna Mae McConkey, 82, of Albany died Friday, December 6, 2013 at Pineview Manor in Stanberry. Anna Mae was born October 4, 1931 to Oliver T. and Inez (Gunter) Walker in Alanthus Grove, Missouri. On June 17, 1951, she was united in marriage to John J. McConkey. He preceded her in death in 1985. Anna Mae was also preceded in death by her parents and a baby sister, Gwendolyn Irene. Anna Mae worked at the Gentry County Memorial Hospital as a ward clerk for several years. She also served as the coordinator for the hospital's candy-striper program. She was the cook for Kid's Corner Day Care in Albany and also worked for the Gentry County Shopper and at Eastwood Restaurant. She was active in the hospital auxiliary, serving as president and membership chairman. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Order of the Eastern Star, Scio Club and the First Presbyterian Church in Albany where she served as a deacon, elder and clerk of session. Survivors: two sons, Richard (Mary) and James of Albany; grandchildren, John (Tessa) McConkey, Katie (Jason) Dias, Casey (Brooke) McConkey, Calan (Sarah) McConkey; great-grandchildren, Ellie, Owen, Madelyn and Maxwell. Graveside Service and Burial: 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 11 at the Grandview Cemetery, Albany. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM Tuesday evening at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany, where friends may call anytime after 2:00 PM on Tuesday.
