Arthur Robert Bonham, 90, of Cameron, Missouri and a former resident of Albany, passed away, Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the Cameron Medical Center. Arthur was a proud resident of the Cameron Veterans Home that he fondly called "The Old Soldier's Home." He was an active member of the devotional group, loved to sing in the choir, volunteered to help others, and served on the food committee. Arthur was born March 28, 1919, to Robert and Ruth (Pierce) Bonham in Rural Buchanan County, Missouri. Arthur served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in the South Pacific's Fiji during World War II. On May 4, 1945 he and Ellen Geraldine Hall were united in marriage. To this union four children were born: Judith Ellen, Harold Wayman, Paula Ann, and Mervin Eldon. Together Arthur and Geraldine farmed near Gentry, MO where their children were raised and educated in the Gentry and Albany R-III Schools. Arthur represented the Gentry Community on the Albany R-III School Board and the Gentry County Soil and Water Conservation District Board. He was an active member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Worth, MO where he served as Sunday School Superintendent. Arthur was also an active member of the Albany American Legion Post 106. Following retirement from farming they made their home in Albany and Arthur worked for the Albany R-III Schools on the janitorial staff. Arthur was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, his parents, siblings Esther Crouch, Alice Dewey, Marjorie Young, Ovid Bonham, Frank Bonham and one son-in-law, Kenneth Hasbrouck. Surviving Arthur are his children and their spouses: Judith and Kenneth Williams, Harlingen, TX; Wayman and Betty Bonham, Liberty, MO; Paula and Alan Price, Savannah, MO; and Mervin and Lanita Bonham, Lawson, MO; Grandchildren: Kenneth DeWayne and Cindy Hasbrouck, Harlingen, TX; Annie and Steve Swanson, Topeka, KS; Jeremy and Misty Burright, St. Joseph, MO; Scott and Jennifer Bonham, Cowgill, MO; Kevin and Michell Bonham, Kearney, MO; Andrew and Cindy Price, Excelsior Springs, MO; and Brent and Chanelle Bonham and Valri Smith, Liberty, MO; Great Grandchildren: Nicholas Hanes, Trenton, MO; Shane Hasbrouck, Cameron, MO; Cortney and Kendall Hasbrouck, Harlingen, TX; Abby and BriAnna Dittberner and Emily Swanson, Topeka, KS; Lauren and Madeline Burright, St. Joseph, MO; Kylie Bonham, Cowgill, MO; Peyton, Alyssa and Chloe Bonham, Kearney, MO; Jordin Price, Excelsior Springs, MO; Colt and Alexandra Bonham, and Shannon and Drake Smith of Liberty, MO; Great-Great Grandchildren: Cameron and Haley Hanes, Trenton, MO.
