Obituary

Beth Jane Congdon Smith McClellan

November 8, 1959 – September 11, 2026

Beth McClellan, 66, of Albany, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026, at KU Medical Center, with her family holding her close.

Beth was born November 8, 1959, in Deadwood, South Dakota, to Barbara and Gerald Congdon. The youngest of eight children, she lost both of her parents at a young age. Family would become the center of the life Beth built. After losing her husband, David Smith, in 1993, Beth raised her children, Candy and David Jr., on her own with tremendous strength and taught them the importance of hard work, perseverance and family.

On June 7, 2008, Beth married Randy McClellan. Together, they built a loving life and blended their families into one.

Beth is survived by her husband, Randy; daughter, Candy Stagner (Chris); son, David Smith Jr. (Brenda); Zack McClellan (Liane); Kipp McClellan (Cara); grandchildren, Tayton (Erin), Brody, Jenna, Jarrett, Miles, Axle, Korbyn, Krede and Koen; brothers, Gerald and Barney Congdon; brother-in-law Clarence, who was like a brother to her; in-laws, Marilyn, Marla, Marlene and Rick; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; siblings, Joe, Ethel, Rose, Patty, Mary and her sister-in-law, Terry; grandson, Kadyn; father-in-law, Glee McClellan, and her beloved mother-in-law, Mary.

Beth’s love for her family was at the heart of everything she did. The love she gave them will live on in her children and grandchildren and be carried forward for generations to come.

Memorial Service: 4:00 PM Friday, September 18 at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany. The family will receive friends 2:00 – 4:00 PM on Friday prior to the service.
