William R. (Bill) Wilson, of Albany, Missouri, passed away on June 24, 2019 at age 83.
Bill was born on November 11, 1936 in Albany, Missouri to Russell (Mutt) and Mary Emily (Williams) Wilson. Bill grew up on a farm outside of Albany and graduated from Albany High School in 1954.
In 1959 he enlisted in the US Army and was stationed at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. While in the Army he served as a Cryptographer and was also part of a championship football team.
In 1965 he married Connie Craven and they had twin boys, Kent and Kevin in September 1965.
Bill held many jobs in his life and owned several businesses. He farmed, he ran a service station, he owned a metal work and welding shop with his brother DeWayne, he owned and operated a sand & gravel business with his good friend Bill Martz, he worked for Johnson Controls and ended his working career running a road maintainer for Athens Township.
In 2002 he married Kim Spiers who preceded him in death in 2016.
Bill loved tinkering with all things metal and wood. He was often found in his work shop building some kind of contraption that he thought would make a task easier or was something he was building for friends. He often said that things he purchased in recent years just weren't built correctly and he would embark on an assignment to fix the manufacturing errors.
He passed his joy of tractors and fishing to his grand children and he loved taking them to a pond fishing or giving them rides on one of his tractors.
He is preceded in death by his father, Russell and his mother Mary Emily as well as his brothers Johnny, Fielding and Ross, and his sisters Betty Payne and Pat Snead. He is survived by his sons Kent (Shawna) of Albany and Kevin of Dacula, GA; step-daughters, Megan (Tim) Hulett and Rheannon (Adam) Carnagey, all of Eagleville; his brothers Jim (Julie), Albany, DeWayne (Jane), Gravette, AR; and Gene (Sharen), Albany; grandchildren A.J., San Diego, CA, Kevin (Jessica), Texas; Colby, Dacula, GA and Abigail, Grace and Lily, Albany; step-grandchildren, Tristan & Kealey Hulett, Able & Mia Carnagey; as well as many nieces and nephews.
