Billie Sue
Gillespie
Aug 26, 1944 — Oct 16, 2024
Billie Sue Gillespie passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Mosaic Medical Center in St. Joseph, Missouri. She was born on August 26, 1944, to the parents of Maurice Larmer and Bernice (Murray) Larmer and recently celebrated her 80th birthday. On October 8, 1964, she married George Allen Gillespie. They had been married for 46 years and George passed away in 2011.
Billie attended Albany R-3 Schools and graduated in 1962. Many of her classmates experienced all school years together and are still close today. After high school, she engaged in extended schooling in the Title and Abstract realm and achieved various certifications. Billie also worked at the Gentry County Bank, the Gentry County Courthouse, and for her Dad at Holden Abstract. Eventually, Billie ran the abstract office for many years. Her entire career was on the Albany Square, and she thoroughly enjoyed the presence of many friends and seeing these people on a daily asis. Billie was never a stranger to anyone and always shared a wave, in addition to being one of the local historians. She made countless trips from her Abstract Office to the Courthouse. Billie loved eating out, shopping, taking photos and sharing them. Her house was the settling place for Christmas Day.
Billie Sue and George welcomed their daughter, Tammy Gillespie Williams, in 1964. Tammy and Rhobb Williams survive of Overland Park, KS. Grandson Grant Williams and friend, Kyra Garner, also survive of Overland Park. There is a great amount of extended family in northwest Missouri. Billie was known to Tammy's friends as the "coolest mom" that ever was. Billie enjoyed hosting Tammy's friends numerous times. Those were some times that have never been forgotten.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, and many others including Dale and Bernice Gillespie, Homer and Rena Gillespie, Teresa Waltrip, Eldon and Jane Gillespie, and Bill and Ella Gillespie.
