Billie L. James, 86, of Independence, Missouri, passed away October 28, 2018 at home.

Billie was born March 12, 1932 in Ford City, Missouri, the daughter of Lloyd and Viola (Kemper) Cook.

On April 2, 1950, she was united in marriage to J.W. James.

Billie was a homemaker. She was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary Post # 9638 of Galmey, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Debbie Scovill, sisters, Twila Guess and Bonnie Cook, brothers, Jimmy and Donald Cook.

Survivors: husband, J.W. James; daughter, Bobbie Harris, both of Independence, MO; granddaughters, Heather (Bob) White, Independence; Johnna (Daniel) Savage, Pattonsburg; great-grandchildren, Nick Reed, Alexis Harris, Shelby White, Maria Savage, Vincent Savage; sisters, Carolyn (John) Mason, Westlake Village, CA; Judy Nord, Junction City, OR; brother, Buster (Carole) Cook, King City, MO; brothers-in-law, Ronald (Linda) James, Indpenedence, MO; Jim Guess, Albany; many nieces and nephews.

Graveside Service and Burial: 3:00 PM Thursday, November 1 at the Carmack Cemetery, Albany. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany.
