Obituary

Brian Eugene Wright, 63 of Albany, MO passed away on June 3, 2022, at his home he shared with the love of his life, Grace Wright-Lawrence.  Brian was born on June 20, 1958, in Greenville, South Carolina. His parents were the late Eugene Dewey and June Delores Payne-Wright. Brian was also survived by his extended family including: Dorothy Wright-Mitchell (Kevin) children Mason, Madelyn of Bolivar, MO; Erika Wright-SanJuan (Ali) children Jaydon, Karson, Kohl, Kase of Lee's Summit, MO; Mary Wright-Quinley (Bryan) children Reagan, Brysan of Bethany, MO; Michelle Wright-Dittmer (Gregory) children Christopher, Zachary (Alayna), Heather Lemon of Indianola, IA; his longtime friend, Ruth Dover of Belton, SC; many extended family and friends in Omaha, NE; South Carolina and Albany, MO.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Deborah Wright; paternal grandparents Thomas Benjamin Wright; Mary Gowen Wright; maternal grandparents William Payne; Christine Collins Payne Hickum.

Brian was known for being a quiet protector and guardian to those he loved. He demonstrated his love for Grace in daily acts and gestures that were always thoughtful and adoring.  He spent many hours handmaking a set of rings to symbolize to Grace the unconditional promise to love her to their death. He was known by many for his great regard to war veterans, he was an accurate historian of the Civil War and spoke out passionately about traditional conservative values. He was hardworking and seldom spent idol time without a project to work on in the home and around the community.  He retired less than a year ago and was able to spend his last days doing things he loved. He recently rehabilitated Dorothy's childhood bicycle he found in the garage so her daughter, Madelyn, could enjoy it.  His sense of calm and peace during sad or scary times was a blessing. Including recently when Michelle and Greg lost their son, Brian made sure to drive Grace to and from Iowa to be alongside them even though he had not been feeling well himself.  He also showed love and patience when Karson was injured after the boys accidently tipped over the Polaris ATV, he and Grace bought for them to enjoy. He was a patient teacher when it came to instructing them to learn how to drive it.  However, all that know him could image how fast he would drive it with a huge grin on his face and the wind in his long hair all the while Grace riding alongside him holding on tightly. He taught Jaydon and Mason the art of wood craving. He was an adventurous and free-spirited man that saw the beauty in all things created by God. He was a southern gentleman with all the traditional gestures of his southern heritage, he was always proud of Kase for his polite and respectful nature, and he loved Kohl for his honest and open style. Brian encouraged Jaydon and Karson the importance of being a gentleman by opening car doors and carrying their grandmother's bags. He loved sweet tea, drag racing and motorcycling.  His friends will recount many stories of Brian driving his motorcycle through the Tail of the Dragon located on North Carolina side of the Smokey Mountains as skillfully maneuvering that tight switchback turns driving as fast as his guardian angel could fly. He enjoyed taking Brysan to the drag races in Bethany MO, where he also befriended some of the nicest people around.  He was a lover of animals and his best canine friends, Kasey (Momma) and Donis (Baby), will miss him dearly.
