Carolyn Martha Premer, 92, of Columbia, MO, passed from this life on June 23, 2026, surrounded by her children. She was born on September 1, 1933, in Albany MO, the daughter of C.F. and Versa (Butler) Rainey.
Carolyn graduated from Albany High school in 1951. She married the love of her life, James Franklin Premer on August 25th that summer in Arkansas. Early in her marriage, she attended Trenton Jr College, later graduating with a degree in elementary education from what was then Missouri State Teacher College (now Truman State University). She loved teaching and touched many young lives in her years of teaching in Troy and Corydon Iowa and DePue Illinois. She ended her career in Batavia, IL, where she and Jim raised their three children – Jacki, Jimi and J.C.
She and Jim retired early and became “snowbirds” spending winters at Aqua Isles Park in LaBelle Florida where they made lifelong friends from around the country. Summers were spent at their house on Lake of The Ozarks where they hosted many family reunions and friends and family all summer long. In 2008, they moved to Liberty, MO, and enjoyed the city life. After Jim passed in 2018, Carolyn moved to Columbia, MO in 2023.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Jacki (Mark) Langworthy, Jimi (Todd) Fanning, J.C. (Julie) Premer, and beloved AFS son Jose Del Pozo of Quito, Ecuador; grandchildren Cori (Jacob) Higgins, Ruthie (Jon) Hart, Kelsey (Patrick) Floyd, Joseph (Anna) Langworthy, Cameron Floyd, Tomi (Will) Morrow, John Langworthy, James (Paige) Fanning, and Jayce Premer; great-grandchildren Embry, Ford, Lucy, Todd, Gideon, Rory, Reese, Omari, Frankie, Leo, Myles and Price; sisters George Ann (Larry) Seymour and Peggy Beach; brother Ted (Carlene) Rainey; sisters-in-law Betty Rainey and Barbara Rainey; and numerous nieces and nephews all much loved. She is also survived by her half brother CF Rainey Jr and half sisters Ramona Caswell and Glynis Nelson.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jim, mother Versa Rainey, father C.F. Rainey, brothers Don Rainey and Ben Rainey, in-laws Helen and Lowell Premer and brothers-in-law Lowell, Thomas, and Lloyd.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 1 at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany. Burial in the Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10:30 AM prior to the service. Friends may call anytime after 9:00 AM Wednesday morning.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Westbury Memory Care in Columbia and the care provided by Gentiva Hospice. Carolyn and the entire family was surrounded by love and compassion.
