On December 31, 2008, Dale R. Hughes, 83 of Albany went to his Heavenly Home at a Weslaco, Texas hospice home following a stroke. Dale, the son of Oscar and Opal (Spaulding) Hughes was born August 22, 1925 in Parnell, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and his 10 year old sister, Irma Dean. On December 16, 1944, Dale married Esther Mae Robertson. To this union one daughter, Dianna Mae was born. She married Wayne Chapman. They live in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Survivors: His wife of 64 years, Esther of the home in Albany; Daughter, Dianna Chapman and husband Wayne, Lee's Summit, Missouri; Brother, Alvin Irvin Hughes, Branson, Missouri; Nieces, Donna Moore & Janet Davis; Nephew, John Wilson; Great-niece, Kellie Dale Hensley; many cousins and friends. Dale was born again in March of 1954 and remained a faithful member of the Assembly of God Church and Campers For Christ Group. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the Philippines and Japan. Dale drove a truck for Schneider Transport Company retiring in January 1, 1988. After retiring, he spent many years traveling and enjoying winters in sunny south Texas. Dale will be missed very much by his family and friends.
