David Lee Garland, 72, of Darlington, Missouri, passed away at his home on December 13, 2023.

He was born November 17, 1951, at the Community Hospital of Fairfax, Missouri and raised on a farm in rural Watson area of Atchison County, Missouri. There he helped with the farm work and attended Lone Cedar and Rock Port Schools.

After graduation in 1969, Dave enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served from 1970 – 1976 and honorably discharged a Corporal. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

He then moved from Atchison County to Gentry County with his parents and family to continue farming on the same farm where he lived and worked to the current day. He was a God-fearing hardworking man whose life centered on Faith and farming.

Dave and his son Justin, from a previous marriage, who was born to him in 1976 were both baptized into Christ together in 1987. Dave was a member of the Church of Christ in Albany, where he met and married his wife Jerri (Carlock) on February 20, 1993.

He was preceded in death by his parents Velmer and Charlotte, a sister-in-law, and other aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jerri of the home; son, Justin (Samantha) of Albany; brother, Steve of Maryland; mother-in-law, Barbara Carlock (Clariyle Cossins); cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Monday, December 18 at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany. Burial with Military Rites in the Grandview Cemetery, Albany. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday evening at the chapel. Friends may call anytime after 2:00 PM on Sunday.
