Demaris Ann McGhee, the daughter of Joseph Albert and Odessa (Reed) McGhee was born August 19, 1925 in Caruthersville, Missouri and passed away April 30, 2012 in Albany, Missouri at the age of 86. Demaris moved to Albany in 2010. She was a former resident of St. Louis and Kennett, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, John David McGhee and a close friend, Katherine O. Kelmell. Demaris was a spirited and determined individual. Once she set her mind on a task or adventure, she pursued it will all her heart and soul. Among those adventures included scuba diving, bowling perfect 300 games, becoming a licensed airplane pilot and an inventor. She began her career working in the family pharmacy business alongside her father who was a pharmacist. She served with the WAC in the Army and later moved to Wichita, KS to work as a riveter on the B-47s at Boeing Aircraft. Later in her career, while living in St. Louis, she became a nursing assistant for private duty nursing care.
