Dixie Lee Groom, 60 of Darlington, Missouri passed away Saturday, November 15, 2008 at her home. Dixie was born January 28, 1948 in Maryville, Missouri. She was the daughter of Ralph Meyers Morriss Sr. and Crystal Erline (Brittain) Morriss. On June 28, 1967, she was united in marriage to Galen Groom. Dixie and Galen enjoyed 41 years of marriage together. Dixie enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She dearly loved her grandson, Brice. At one point in her life, she started her own business as a licensed kennel operator and sold Chinese Pugs from her home for about 10 years. She worked at the Stanberry Cap Factory for a few years, then worked for Big 4 Hardware in Stanberry where she enjoyed working. Dixie was a loyal Kansas City Chiefs Football Fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR races. Survivors include her husband, Galen of the home in Darlington; Daughter, Gayle Allee and husband Wayne, Rock Port, MO; Son, Brian Groom and Leslie, Bethany; Grandson, Brice Groom, Lexington, MO; Step-Grandchildren, Zach Allee, Chicago, IL; Veronica Allee, Maryville, MO; Sister, Judy Ellis and husband Max, Stanberry; Brother, Ralph (JR) Morriss Jr. and wife Linda, Stanberry; Mother-in-law, Fonda Groom, Darlington; Brother-in-law, David Groom and wife Ruth, Spickard, MO; numerous nieces & nephews, cousins and friends whom she dearly loved. Dixie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ernest L. Morriss; sisters, Alta Morriss and Carolyn Bledsoe Albright and her father-in-law, Harold Groom.
