Obituary

Dorlan Gene Arthur, the son of Garland and Rose (McMichael) Arthur was born October 6, 1942 at Reid Hospital in Bethany, Missouri and passed away July 17, 2024 at the age of 81.

Dorlan was baptized August 30, 1953 by Reverend Jim King at the Mt. Zion Church at the age of 10 years and 11 months.

He was raised on the family farm south of New Hampton and went to a country school close by and finished high school in Bethany.

Dorlan pursued many jobs. He was a heavy welder at Donco in Kansas, and mechanic for KC Bobcat. He made jewelry out of agates and tree topped on the side.

Dorlan moved back to Missouri and started logging with his brother-in-law (Marvin Snead). They called themselves Heckle & Jeckle. Neither one of them knew who was who. They logged for 10 years.

Dorlan and Carroll were married August 16, 1984 in Blue Springs, Missouri. To this union they raised 6 kids: Lisa, Rhodera, Rhonda, Kenny, Chris and Laura.

Dorlan and Carroll tree topped in Albany and the surrounding communities with their kids joining in. Dorlan also ran the projectors at the Rigney Theater.

In 1986, Dorlan moved his family to a farm south of Gentry, where they lived for 30 years. In 1995, he started Arthur's Radiator Repair and operated the business for 21 years. They sold the farm in 2016 and moved back to Albany.

Dorlan's happy place was at Mozingo Lake fishing. You would also find them out at the farm of Ed & Marilyn Poff pond fishing. Dorlan also enjoyed his shop, where you would find him making all kinds of woodworking items and fixing things for other people.

Dorlan always had a joke for you. He loved seeing people laugh and smile.

Until we meet again – you are one of a kind my friend. Rest in peace.

He is survived by his wife, Carroll Arthur of the home in Albany; daughters, Lisa (Rick) Arthur, Hopkins, MO; Rhodera (Brian) Ackley, Stanberry, MO; Rhonda (Dale) Stuart, Albany; Laura (Joey) Hillman, St. Joseph, MO; brother, Donald (Marlene) Arthur, Albany; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mary Lou Wampler and step-sons Kenny and Chris Kelly.
