Obituary

Dortha Mae Whiteaker was born February 10, 1918 in Gentry County, Missouri to Vincent and Hattie (Falis) Carter and passed away at the age of 100 on May 14, 2018 at Pineview Manor in Stanberry.

Dortha was a rural school teacher, teaching all grades. She met George Norris "Satch" Whiteaker in Bethany when they started dating. They were married December 4, 1942. Dortha lived her entire life in Albany, with the exception when Satch was in the service, at which time, Dortha and her son Phil lived with her parents in New Hampton. After the war, they enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and spending time with friends to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. Later, Dortha and Satch wintered in Arizona, traveled to the Grand Canyon, some of New Mexico and Colorado. Satch preceded her in death December 13, 1999.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter Mary Ann Whiteaker, brother M.D. Carter, sister Louise Lockhart and her very dear friend Pauline Lippincott.

Dortha was a member of the Albany First Christian Church, where she served on several boards and was an active member of other civic organizations in the Albany community.

Survivors: son, Philip Norris Whiteaker, Phoenix, AZ; grandson, Scott Whiteaker, Fort Collins, CO; granddaughters, Wendy McCune, Leawood, KS; Christine Whiteaker, Springfield, VA; 3 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Service: 10:30 AM Saturday, May 19 at the First Christian Church in Albany. Inurnment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, Albany. Memorial Contributions: Albany First Christian Church or
