Douglas David Cress, 52 of Albany, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at his home. Doug was born on September 7, 1962 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was the son of David and Verna (Hook) Cress. They preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Bertha Cress. On December 28, 2014, Doug married Stacy Runnels. Doug retired from the Army National Guard A Battery 1-129th Field Artillery. He was a retired Corrections Officer for the Department of Corrections in Maryville. He was a member of the Stanberry First Baptist Church and served 10 years for the Pleasant Valley Weather Service. Survivors: wife, Stacy of the home; children, Amanda (Justin Pruitt) Blackard, Albany; Shandi (Bryan Wolfe) Blackard, Bethany; Jessicia Petty of the home; Philip Jones, Clarksdale, MO; Jill Daly, Fredericktown, MO; Ruben Jones, Kansas City, MO; Brother, Duane Cress; Sister, Mitchell Cress both of St. Joseph; Aunt, Velma Harris, Smithville, MO; brother-in-law, Clayton (Jodie) Runnels, Stewartsville, MO; mother-in-law, Ann Cully of the home; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Service: 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 7 at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany. Burial with Military Rites in the McFall Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday evening at the chapel, where friends may call anytime after 2:00 PM Monday.
