Douglas Lee Richardson, 61, Austin, TX passed away at his home on Thursday, June 27, 2013. Doug, the son of Haynes L. and Iva Faye (Butler) Richardson was born May 27, 1952 in St. Joseph Mo. He graduated from Albany high School in 1970 and attended the University of Missouri. Doug had a long career in the building and roofing industry that took him from Kansas City MO to Dallas TX, Scottsdale AZ, Palos Verdes CA, Memphis TN and finally Austin, TX. He most recently worked for Amtech Building Sciences in Austin, TX. He also served a term as President of the National Roofing Association. Doug is survived by his son Eric (Lindsey) Richardson, Lakeland, FL; Brother Peter (Ellen) Richardson, Springfield, MO; Grandsons Cohen and Cale Richardson, Lakeland, FL; Nephew Kevin Richardson, Los Angeles, CA; Niece Nikki Richardson, Springfield, MO; numerous cousins and many close friends nationwide. Doug was well known for his gift of gab and he never met a stranger. He will be fondly remembered for his great stories and warm, friendly smile. His fun loving spirit and love for life will live on in those lucky enough to know him. Celebration of Life: 12:00 PM, Saturday, August 3, at the Albany Country Club.
