Edith (Shutters) Pozzo was born June 22, 1919 in Gentry County, Missouri to John L. and Cora (McFall) Shutters. She made her transition to eternal life at her home in Irvine, California on January 30, 2008 at the age of 89 years old. She left Albany, Missouri to join the U.S. Navy and see the world during World War II. After her service she worked for the American Legion and then in the hospitality industry at the Biltmore Hotel and the Hyatt Regency, both in Los Angeles, California. During her life in Los Angeles she met Edward M. Pozzo, whom she married at the age of 53, her first and only marriage. With this event she became an instant mother to Ed's son, Richard Pozzo and daughter, Steffanie Wiggins and grandmother to Heidi Pozzo, Peter Pozzo and Belinda Wiggins. At the time of her transition she was also a great grandmother to Evan Pozzo. Edith and Ed lived in South Pasadena, California and had a second home in Palm Springs, California. Upon retirement they build a home in Tucson, Arizona. Upon Ed's transition she returned to Irvine, California. Some of the highlights of her military and working career included meeting Eleanor Roosevelt, Claire Chenault and Madame Chaing Kai-shek. She helped in the planning and coordination of the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles when John Fitzgerald Kennedy was nominated as the Democratic Candidate for the Presidency and had the honor of escorting JFK to the podium.
