Obituary

On September 27, 2022, Esther "Pauline" (Folgate) Toombs, 93, of Darlington, Missouri, took her last breath and passed on into the arms of her beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at Pineview Manor, Stanberry, Missouri surrounded with her family singing "Amazing Grace" accompanied by harmonica.

Pauline was born on August 1, 1929, to Kenneth and Gladys (Schuster) Folgate in Gentry County. She attended the Hugginsville Country School through 8 th grade. Then graduated from the Albany High School in 1948. Pauline loved to sing.

In November 1948, Pauline started working in Albany at Bell Telephone Company. In April 1949, Pauline moved to St. Joseph to work at Jerre-Anne's Cafeteria and stayed at the YMCA. In 1950, she worked in Pattonsburg until September in 1950.

Pauline married William (Billy) Toombs on October 8, 1950, at Reverend Frank Groom's home near Darlington. Their first home was on the Hugginsville family homeplace. In 1956, they lived in McFall for one year before renting the Hallie Rucker farm until 1962. In September 1962, the family moved to the Toombs family farm north of Ford City, Missouri. Pauline, a loving caregiver and hard-working farmer's wife and mom lived there until December of 2020. Pauline was a member of Maple Grove Church until it closed, moving her membership to Darlington Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir and was an avid gardener.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Billy on December 28, 2014, brother-in-law Alfred Mulnix, sister-in-law Pat Folgate and son-in-law Kenny (Bear) Wiederholt.

Survivors: daughter, Judy Wiederholt, Guilford, MO; sons, Darrel (Dianne) Toombs, Stanberry, MO; and Kevin Toombs, Darlington, MO; grandchildren, Chad Wiederholt, Bolckow, MO; Coby Wiederholt (Danyell), Guilford, MO; Dustin Toombs; Christina King (Jerrud), St. Joseph, MO; brother, Carl Folgate, Ridgeway, MO; sister, Mary (Folgate) Mulnix, Bethany, MO; great-grandchildren, Landon and Rylin Wiederholt, Guilford, MO; Carter and Adley King, St. Joseph, MO; cousins, Lorene (Pierce) Matthews, Albany, MO; Virginia Rose Sparks, St. Joseph, MO; aunt, Margot Folgate, Columbus, OH; several nieces, nephews and other cousins.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Saturday, October 1 at the Darlington Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Ford City Cemetery, Ford City, MO. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, where friends may call anytime after 9:00 AM Saturday morning.
