Florence Spiers Hazelrigg was born July 25, 1910 on a farm south of Albany, Missouri, the youngest child of Mariot and Lula Belle (Robertson) Spiers. She left this life January 25, 2010 at the age of 99 years and 6 months at Maranatha Village in Springfield, Missouri. Her mother died when Florence was 13 years old. Florence and her father then moved to Albany, Missouri where she attended school and graduated at the top of her class. She then attended Palmer College in Albany for 1 ½ years. She was married to Earle Hazelrigg in 1928 in Albany, Missouri. To this union, one son Larry was born, who lives in Willard, Missouri. They lived in Albany a number of years, moving to Rock Port in the late 40's. After Larry's graduation from school, they moved to Salisbury and Lamar, later retiring on Table Rock Lake at Reeds Springs. She enjoyed their time at the lake by walking around the shore picking up pretty rocks and visiting with her many friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed working in her garden, especially her gooseberry bushes and making pies. Earle died in 1990 and she lived at the lake home until 2001 when she moved to Maranatha Village. She enjoyed sitting by her patio door, watching the deer and turkeys. She also always had bird feeders on her patio, keeping feed in them at all times. She enjoyed having her little garden at Maranatha raising tomatoes to use and to give to friends. She also liked to walk and visit with her friends she had made at Maranatha. Florence was always an active member at her church wherever she lived holding many offices. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Glen and Ross and one sister, Miriam. She is survived by her son Larry and one nephew Max Spiers of McFall, MO. She will be missed by her family and many friends.
