Galen Max Groom, 72, of Darlington, Missouri, passed away September 11, 2018 at his home.
Galen was born May 27, 1946 in Darlington, Missouri. He was the son of Harold Lloyd and Fonda Louise (Graham) Groom.
On June 28, 1967, he was united in marriage to Dixie Lee Morriss. Galen and Dixie enjoyed 41 wonderful years of marriage on this earth. Their love for each other was truly unconditional and the most genuine love that two people could ever share. Dixie preceded him in death November 15, 2008.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Ralph and Crystal (Brittain) Morriss; brother-in-law, Ernest L. Morriss; sisters-in-law, Alta Morriss and Carolyn Bledsoe Albright; niece, Angela Brown; nephew, Dustin Morriss; great-nephew, Bryson Ellis.
Galen enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. Farming was his life. He worked incredibly hard everyday of his life until he retired three years ago. He taught his children some of the greatest values in life that will never be forgotten. He had a strong faith in God. He was a member of the Darlington Baptist Church. Galen graduated from Albany High School in 1964, enjoyed FFA and attended Platte College.
Survivors: daughter, Gayle (Wayne) Allee, Rock Port, MO; son, Brian (Leslie) Groom, Bethany, MO; grandson, Brice Groom, Cameron, MO; step-granddaughter, Kayla (JD) Ramey, Bethany; step-grandson, Zach Allee and Jay Daugherty, Atlanta, GA; step-granddaughter, Veronica (Jason) Lewis, Rock Port, MO; step-great-grandchildren, Rush and Baylin Lewis; brother, David (Ruth) Groom, Spickard, MO; sister-in-law, Judy (Max) Ellis, Stanberry; brother-in-law, Ralph (Linda) Morriss, Jr., Stanberry; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Service: 10:00 AM Friday, September 14 at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany with burial in the Grandview Cemetery, Albany. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday evening at the chapel, where friends may call anytime after 2:00 PM on Thursday. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to Mosaic Life Care Hospice in care of the Roberson-Polley Chapel, 403 N. Hundley, Albany, MO 64402.
