George Allen Gillespie, 73 of Albany passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at his home. George, the son of Rolla and Ola (Madden) Gillespie was born March 14, 1937 near Albany, Missouri. On October 8, 1964, George married Billie Sue Larmer. They have been married for 46 years. George attended elementary school at Pinhook Elementary. He graduated from Albany High School in 1955. In 1960, George went to work for MFA and was a dedicated employee for 43 years. He retired on March 15, 2002. During retirement, George spent time enjoying life. He loved spending time with friends and family, especially when everyone joined him at his home for special occasions. George's hobbies included playing tennis in his early years with John Coffey, playing ping pong with Dr. Marvin Combs and hunting and collecting guns. George cherished the times taking his grandson Grant to the farm to practice shooting guns. He also enjoyed giving those he knew a very hard time as well as joking frequently and those that knew him never knew what he might say next. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Dale, Homer, Eldon and Bill, one sister, Teresa Waltrip and his nephews, Stuart and Larry Gillespie. Survivors: Wife, Billie Sue Gillespie of the home; Daughter and Son-in-law, Tammy and Rhobb Williams, Overland Park, KS; Grandson, Grant Williams and many nieces and nephews.
