Obituary

Mrs. Haley Erin Moldenhauer of Albany, MO, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the age of 31. Her passing leaves all of us missing a beloved, selfless, passionate advocate for equality for those she was pleased to serve. Her example and her ideas leave all of us better prepared to continue her work in ways that will make her proud.

Haley was born to Ed and Jan Moldenhauer in St. Joseph, MO, on July 11, 1986. Sister Blaire joined the family in 1989, becoming the second half of a formidable and unbreakable team of sisters. Haley's next family milestone came when she married Bradford Doolittle on August 2, 2014. Brad, like many of Haley's family and friends, was honored to serve along with her as part of Rolling Hills Creative Living, a non-profit service agency dedicated to providing great quality of life for individuals with mental and physical disabilities. In many ways, Haley's service to those individuals defined her life and is her greatest legacy. Never settling for "good enough," Haley devoted herself to making their days better and spent countless hours planning for ambitious trips of 30 or more throughout the United States.

Haley is survived by her husband Bradford and their dog Kiedis, both of the home; parents Ed and Jan of Albany; sister Blaire of Mission, KS; and many beloved cousins and friends.

Haley lived and served with the deep insight that life is very hard for most of us. She dedicated her talents to ease that burden. She was acutely aware that time on Earth doesn't go on forever, and she urgently architected experiences for family and others. Aware of her own mortality, she gave us great guidance of how she wished for us to proceed with her memorial services and left us great inspiration. She believed with all her heart that, "We have to measure our significance by what we do for others and not what we do for ourselves." We draw comfort from that fact that she lived a life of great significance in the short period she was granted on Earth. We pledge to continue her work.
