Janice S. Crockett, the daughter of Bill and Laverne (Hankins) Shively was born March 18, 1937 in Braymer, Missouri and passed away on November 22, 2014 in Maryville at the age of 77. Her parents preceded her in death. Janice was a 1955 graduate of Braymer High School. She received her BS in Education from the University of Missouri, Columbia and Speech Therapy degree from Truman State University, Kirksville. Janice taught for 33 years in elementary grades. Janice received the Outstanding Young Woman of the America Award-1968 Edition and the Outstanding Young Educator Award, presented by the Albany Jaycees. Janice married Robert F. Crockett on June 8, 1963. He survives of the home in Albany. She was also survived by her sisters, Jo (J.W.) Page, Lees Summit, MO; Pat (Paul) Ellison, Liberty, MO; and other family members. Janice was a member of the Albany First Baptist Church, Charter member of Delta Kappa Gamma, University of Missouri Life Member of Alumni Association, Missouri State Teachers Association, World Order of China Painting, Red Hat Society, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Athena Club Member where she served as a past president. Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 25 at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany. The body will be cremated following the service with inurnment in the Grandview Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at the chapel, where friends may call anytime after 10:00 AM Tuesday.
