J.E. Jones 89, of Albany, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015, at an Albany hospital. J.E. was born on June 1, 1926, just east of Denver, Mo., to Harold (Jack) and Mary Groce Jones. He had two older brothers, Bobby and Billy, and a younger brother, Philip. J.E. attended Neiger School and Denver High School. Before entering the service, he was employed one year in a defense plant at Grand Rapids, Mich. and one year in Kansas City, Mo. He entered the U.S. Navy, August 7, 1944, and was assigned to an aircraft carrier in the Pacific during WWII. After his discharge from the service in 1948, J.E. met his beloved wife, Cynthia, through his brother Billy, who was conveniently dating Cynthia's best friend Rachael. They married in 1948, and their first child, Jeffrey, was born in 1949. Veronica followed in 1951, Mary Ann in 1953, and Tammie in 1959. They had a busy and happy household, always filled with lots of friends and family visiting. J.E. worked for F.C. Grace Furniture in Denver, for many, many years before starting his own carpet installation business in 1975. He laid carpet all over northwest Missouri, many homes and businesses more than once. J.E. was a man of faith who dedicated his life to family and community. He was a member of the Albany United Methodist Church, and was a good friend to all who knew him, always willing to help anyone in need. He was diligent in sending out cards to friends and family, even up to his last day at home when he sent a birthday card to his grandson, Drake. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cynthia; son, Jeffrey; daughter, Mary Ann Newman; brothers, Bobby, Billy, and Philip. He is survived by his daughters, Veronica (Jim) Alderson, Kearney, Mo., Tammie (Neal) Piper, Huntington Beach, CA; grandchildren, Tara (Nathan) Meinert, Kearney; Andrea (Adam) Lyngar, Kearney; Quinn Piper, Huntington Beach, CA; Drake Piper, Davis, CA; great-grandchildren, Larson and Ardyn Lyngar; special angels, Jill Clair and Jeannie Grass, along with numerous family and friends who loved him. Funeral Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at the Albany United Methodist Church, Albany. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Roberson- Polley Chapel, Albany, where friends may call anytime after 4 p.m. Tuesday. Burial with Military Rites will be in the Miller Cemetery, Denver. Memorial contributions may be made to The N.M.C. Foundation or the Albany United Methodist Church.
