JoAnn (Ewing) Kent, the daughter of Sid and Irene (Shelton) Ewing was born August 26, 1932 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. JoAnn was proud of her Cherokee Heritage. She passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the age of 81. In May of 1954, JoAnn graduated from Oklahoma State University. She served her internship at the VA Hospital in Houston, Texas. On February 17, 1955, JoAnn was united in marriage to Kenneth Kent, Jr. in Guthrie, Oklahoma. To this union, two children were born David and Sidney. Kenny and JoAnn were fortunate to celebrate 58 wonderful years of marriage together this year. For 35 years she worked as a Registered Dietician for Gentry County Memorial Hospital in Albany and also served as a consultant for the nursing homes. JoAnn became a member of the Albany United Methodist Church in 1956, where she served as organist and choir director for several years. She was a member of Chapter AN of the P.E.O. Sisterhood of Albany, belonged to various other community groups and played cards with bridge groups for several years. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Shirley Pratt. Survivors: husband, Kenny Kent of the home; son, David Kent, Albany; daughter, Sidney (Doug) Braswell, Maquoketa, IA; grandchildren, Jackie (Bradley) Burke, Vanessa (Jason) Taggart, Ryan (Josh) Feller, Tyller Braswell (Michelle Eberhardt); great-grandchildren, Ericka and Allie JoAnn Burke, Khale and Emily Taggart and Hailey Feller; sister, Linda (Randy) Cameron, Guthrie, OK; niece, Diane (Jon) Mombaini and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Friday, September 6 at the Albany United Methodist Church with burial in the Grandview Cemetery, Albany. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday at the church, where friends may call anytime after 9:00 AM.
