John "Earl" Martin, 97 of Darlington, Missouri passed away on Monday, June 3, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Albany. Earl, the son of John Alfred and Mary Fannie (Oliver) Martin was born July 26, 1915 in Nodaway County, Missouri. Earl was united in marriage to Alice Margaret Jones on December 30, 1939. She preceded him in death in March of 1944. On August 20, 1950, Earl married Arlie Faye Hise. She preceded him in death on May 5, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his son John Edward Martin on September 21, 2003. Earl was a farmer. He was a member of the Stanberry First Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star. Survivors: grandson, Brian (Ruthanna) Martin; granddaughter, Kimberly (Jeremy) Chrisman; daughter-in-law, Norma Jean Martin; great-grandchildren, Cole Chrisman, Sarah & Brandon Martin, all of St. Joseph. Funeral Service: 10:00 AM Thursday, June 6 at the Stanberry First Baptist Church with burial in the New Friendship Cemetery, Gentry, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM Wednesday evening at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany, where friends may call anytime after 2:00 PM on Wednesday.
