Laura E. Porter, 87 of Albany passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at an Albany hospital. Laura was born February 2, 1925 in Albany, Missouri. She was the daughter of Homer and Maggie (Spainhower) Shields. On May 12, 1942, she was united in marriage to Roger Fielding Porter. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Sophia Miller, Alma Goodwin, Bea Barber; brothers, Raymond and Rapheal Shields; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Porter and granddaughter, Melissa Porter Judd. Laura was a homemaker. She was a member of the Albany First Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, Rodney (Donna) Porter, Blue Springs, MO; Dianna (Bill) Brittingham, Eagleville; James (Cheryl) Porter, Eagleville; Martha (John) Shipley, St. Joseph; Roberta (Beanie) Owens, Albany; Margaret (Gordon) Byrom, Cameron; Roger (Rhonda) Porter, Ridgeway; Gail (Chris) Tennell, Grandview, MO; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 12 at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany with burial in the Grandview Cemetery, Albany.
