Leo L. Barnes, 84, of Albany, Missouri, passed away May 27, 2023 at his home. He was born May 25, 1939 in Storm Lake, Iowa, the son of Obid L. and Marvel (Harriott) Barnes.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Helen (Barnes) Brinker.
On February 14, 1960, Leo married Glenda Joan Groth at the Methodist Church in Newell, Iowa.
Leo was a farmer. He was Secretary of Buena Vista County Extension Council, Storm Lake, Iowa, Buena Vista County Swine Producers Board, Gentry County Extension Council of Albany, served on the committee to help plan the building of the Hundley-Whaley Building and on the Board to help farm Hundley-Whaley Farm, American Farmer Degree & Honorary Chapter Farmer Award both as member of the FFA and Fairport Saddle Club member.
Survivors: wife, Glenda of the home; daughter, Beth (Harold) Ellis, Maysville, MO; sons, Kenneth (Alicia) Barnes, Albany, MO; Daniel (Chrissy) Barnes, St. Louis, MO; Mother-in-law, Florence Groth, Sac City, IA; Brother-in-law, Bill Groth, Santa Fee NM; Sister-in-law, Jean Rooney, Rosalie, NE; Grandchildren: Jeremy (Rebecca) Ellis, Jennifer (Shawn) Meek, Joanna (Jeff) Stretch, Justin (Brandi) Ellis, Megan (Michael) Scheib, Hailey Barnes, Christopher (Baylee) Barnes, Ryan (Monica) Barnes, Kyle (Elaine) Barnes & Tyler Barnes (Gabby); 18 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandchild; Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral Service: 10:00 AM Friday, June 2 at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, McFall. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday evening at the chapel. Friends may call anytime after 2:00 PM Thursday.
