Lester Eldon Pierce, 91, of Stanberry, Missouri, passed away on November 15, 2014 at Pineview Manor. He was born March 8, 1923 in Gentry County, the son of Ike and Stella (Folgate) Pierce. He graduated from Stanberry High School. He married Elizabeth A. Echterling on August 30, 1942. To this union two children were born. They farmed in the Hugginsville Community. Lester was baptized in the former Hugginsville Methodist Church. In 1951, they moved to California where Lester worked as a mechanic for Ford Tractor in Whittier. He later joined the Buena Park police force, moving to Brea where he also worked for the police force, then was employed for the State of California, before returning to Missouri in 1969. Lester served as chief of police in Stanberry and then worked for Jackson County where he retired. His hobbies were antique tractors. He was a member of several tractor clubs. He also drove for the Amish. Lester was preceded in death by his parents, children, Gary Pierce and Sharon Pierce, brother, Leland Dale Pierce. Survivors: wife, Elizabeth Pierce; sister, Lorene Mathews, Albany; aunt, Margot Folgate, Columbus, OH; Carma Peery, Stanberry and several cousins. Memorial Graveside Service will be held at a later date. The body has been cremated.
