Albany, MO; - Lola V. (Gillespie) Richards 91, died March 15, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Albany. Lola was born September 12, 1921 in Gentry County, Missouri to John and Barbara (Garman) Gillespie. She was a graduate of New Hampton High School. She married James Robert (Bob) Richards on December 21, 1941. She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 sisters and 2 brothers. Survivors: Husband, Bob, of the home; one son, Gary, Albany ; one brother, Floyd Gillespie, Hot Springs Village, AR; sister-in-law, Anna Halstead, Albany and several nieces and nephews, a 150 plus. She was a member of the Albany United Methodist Church. Her husband Bob was in World War II. She accompanied him during his training in five different states. During his tour in Europe, Lola worked at a defense plant in Topeka, Kansas. Later she worked at a J.C. Pennys in Mobile, Alabama. Then she retired at Mid West City Bank in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Lola's hobbies included oil painting, needlework and gardening. She enjoyed traveling. Her favorite spots were Branson and Pagosa Springs, Colorado. She loved all animals, especially her dog, Penny. Lola and Bob had 71 years of happy life together. They were still together holding hands when she passed away. Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 20, at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany with burial in the Grandview Cemetery, Albany. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the chapel, where friends may call anytime after 11:00 AM on Wednesday.
