Mardell Irene Straight was born August 26, 1921 in Platteville, Iowa to Paul and Margaret Matheny.

As a young girl, being the eldest of six children, Junior (Paul), Delores, Isabell, Delbert and Ron, she took care of her siblings since their mother was very ill.   Ron and Junior survive.

She married Noble Straight at the age of 16. She raised three children, Leroy, Jeannie and Willard on a small farm outside of Sheridan, Missouri. Willard passed away on January 31, 2014. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In her later years, she moved to California to work, retiring from Amaco Plastics in La Mirada. After retirement, she returned to Albany and purchased a home where she lived for 25 years. Later, Mardell returned to California and lived with her daughter Jeannie in Victorville, California and her son Leroy in La Mirada, California.

She loved taking care of family, enjoyed country music and dancing. Three months ago she was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She stayed with her son Leroy. On February 3, 2016, she went to be with the Lord.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Saturday, February 13 at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany with burial in the Grandview Cemetery, Albany.
