Marian Irene Cox, 96 died Saturday, July 18, 2009 at her home in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was born May 22, 1913 in LaMoure, North Dakota. She was the daughter of Edward Conrad and Martha Catherine (Wolfe) Shawver. She graduated from high school in Fargo, North Dakota. Marian Married Edward Veron Cox of Albany, Missouri on November 24, 1938 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a devoted wife of 52 years. The couple lived in the Albany area for four years before moving to Socorro, New Mexico in 1942. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked in insurance offices and supported the family business as a bookkeeper. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Socorro, where she taught Sunday school for 25 years. She was a member of Magdalena Chapter No. 9 OES. She moved to Alamogordo in 1990 to be closer to her children. After moving to Alamogordo she became a member of Bethel Baptist Church and served in many ministries including choir and a tape ministry for shut-ins. She was a member of the Alamo Chapter No. 11 OES. She leaves a legacy of love and devotion to her family and her savior, Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward Vernon Cox, two borthers, one sister, a daughter-in-law Janie Cox, and a granddaughter Karrie Blankenship. Marian is survived by two sons, Jack L. Cox and his wife Marie of Alamogordo, NM and Bill Cox and his wife Marcene of Las Cruces, NM; a daughter, Judy Blankenship and her husband Harris of Alamogordo, NM; eleven grandchildren, Kim (Mrs. Bob) Money and Jason Blankenship of Alamogordo, NM; Donna Napier of Naples, FL; Brenda (Mrs. Mark) Whiten of Peoria, AZ; Shelley (Mrs. Phil) Kruis of Tucson, AZ; Jarod Cox and his wife Meredith of Omaha, NE; Dana Cox of Albuquerque, NM; Sandi (Mrs. Jon) Lippard of Enid, OK; Brenda Berryhill of Las Cruces, NM and her fiancee Danny Hale of Alamogordo, NM; Tommy Black and his wife Nancy of Las Cruces, NM and Jeff Black and his wife Mary of Lahaina, HI; twenty-two great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, one nephew Russell Shawver and wife Lila of Gentry, AR.
