Marjorie Wallace, the daughter of Raymond and Grace (Wood) Gillespie was born February 1, 1922 in Albany, Missouri and passed away on Friday, June 15, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Albany at the age of 90. Marjorie was a former resident of St. Joseph. She was a beautician before retiring. Marjorie married William Silkett in 1940. They later divorced. In 1965, she married Alton Wallace. He preceded her in death in July of 2000. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Leo Gillespie and a step-son, Paul Wallace. Marjorie was a member of the Albany First Baptist Church, WMU and the Red Hatters. Survivors: Son, Vancil (Glenna) Silkett, Albany; Step-Daughters, Marcia (Larry) Hill, St. Joseph; Marie (Gary) Roberts, Dallas, TX; Sister, Irene (Donnie) Harris, Albany; Brother, Russell (Vonda) Gillespie, Albany; Granddaughters, Anita and Cheryl Silkett; Great-Grandchildren, Scott Shavnore, Stephanie Shavnore and Haylee Silkett; Several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Funeral Service: 1:00 PM Monday, June 18, at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday evening at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, where friends may call anytime after 2:00 PM Sunday.
