Obituary

Mark journeyed to his eternal home on December 3, 2008, displaying the same strength, humor and dignity with which he blessed his family and friends throughout his time on Earth. He was at home, surrounded by his family and his loving nurse, Karri. Mark, the son of Marvin and Lydia (Long) Bridges was born August 10, 1960 in Princeton, Missouri. His parents raised him in a Christian life, which he has always continued and to which he publicly rededicated himself on June 23, 2008, at the Albany Church of Christ. He and wife Susan have been blessed to have Pastor C.F. Rainey, Dr. Leland May and Reverend Bendi Burgin minister to them and share the daily word of God as Mark's spirit has triumphed over the physical challenges of cancer over the past six months. Mark was Branch President of BTC Bank in Albany, and began his career at Albany's Gentry County Bank. His life has been enriched by his outstanding and tireless service to his community, where he has served as a volunteer firefighter, Past President of Rotary Club, Past President of Albany Chamber of Commerce, President of Eastridge Apartments, Inc., President of Grand River Regional Ambulance District and Treasurer of Albany Booster Club, Albany Little League Baseball, Good Neighbor Fund and Boy Scout Troop 102. Mark's service to God and the people of his community was coupled with his passion for athletics and living a full life with family and friends. Mark was well known for his excellence and congeniality on the golf course and as a basketball official, and was an avid runner and weightlifter. He was an enthusiastic recreational pilot and hunter, and loved playing the drums. His family and friends joined him in all of those activities, and will continue to follow his example. Mark was preceded in death by his stepson Ryan Doolittle, and his maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his wife Susan and daughter Katelyn of the home; family members Jon, Jeni, Sara, Nate and Noah Doolittle of Kansas City, MO; Bradford Doolittle of Kansas City, MO and his parents Marvin and Lydia Bridges of Albany.
