Marvin Gerald Bridges was blessed with the gift of Eternal Life on February 10, 2009. His wife of sixty-two years was at his side as Marvin received His peace and grace. Marvin was born in Maysville, Missouri on May 29, 1925 to Floyd and Lucille (Jackson) Bridges. He graduated from Maysville High School in 1943 and soon began a 45-year career in telephone communications. He completed Management Development training through the University of Kansas and became staff assistant with Grand River Telphone in Princeton, Missouri before moving to Albany in 1963. Marvin retired in 1988 as Manager of the Northwest District of the Missouri Telephone Company. Marvin married the love of his life, Lydia (Long) Bridges on November 16, 1946. Their beloved son, Mark, was born on August 10, 1960. Marvin served his community and its various organizations in volunteer capacities for many years. He was a city council member and later mayor of Albany for eight years. He was Chief of the Albany Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Albany Rotary Club, Boy Scout Troop 102, Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Albany United Methodist Church. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Mark. Marvin is survived by his wife, Lydia of the home; daughter-in-law, Susan Bridges and granddaughter, Katelyn Bridges of Albany; family members, Jon, Jeni, Sara, Nate and Noah Doolittle, Kansas City, MO; Bradford Doolittle, Kansas City, MO; sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Larry Love, Altoona, IA; sisters-in-law, Nina Drake, Kansas City, MO; Marie Long, Gallatin; several nieces and nephews
