Obituary

Max (Jiggs) Lykins, 90, of Albany, Missouri, passed away March 24, 2019 at Northwest Medical Center in Albany. He was born September 18, 1928, the son of Emory and Alice (James) Lykins.

Jiggs grew up in Albany where he met his sweetheart Viola Kling while roller skating.  They were married September 28, 1947.  Jiggs was a devoted, caring husband.  Their 63 years of marriage was an inspiration to all who knew them.  She preceded him in death July 3, 2010.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, sister, Helen (Charles) Wayman, half brother, Kenneth (Joan) Lykens, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Fred (Mary Ann) Kling, Paul (Blanche) Searcy, Opal (Lewis) Freed.

Jiggs began his grocery career working for Shorty Yetter. He became partners with Howard Lynch owning L & L Grocery Store until his wife Vi was diagnosed with MS in 1963.  Jiggs went on to work for MFA Grocery, McGinley's and retiring from Hogue Grocery Store.  Soon after, Jiggs started a painting crew with good friends and high school boys.

He loved watching his grandsons, Lance and Chad play sports, enjoyed the Canada fishing trips, football games and his coffee group.

Jiggs was a faithful member of the Albany United Methodist Church, Rotary Club, Athens Lodge #127 A.F. & A.M., Moila Shriners & Model T Unit.  He served on various boards; Athens Township, City Council Northward Alderman, Eastridge Housing and Gentry County University Extension.

Survivors: daughter, Cherryl (Larry) Morrow, St. Joseph; grandsons, Lance (Karyn) Morrow, St. Joseph; Chad (Johanna) Morrow, Columbia; great-grandchildren, Max and Mia; 10 nieces and nephews; special care givers, Debbie Lippincott and Connie Worden, and many good caring friends.

Celebration of Life: 2:00 PM Saturday, April 27 at the United Methodist Church in Albany with inurnment in the Grandview Cemetery, Albany.
