Maxine Leora Constant, 89 of Darlington, Missouri passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at her home. Maxine, the daughter of William M. and Eliza (Cole) Consolver was born March 4, 1921 in Darlington, Missouri. She graduated from Darlington High School in 1939. On February 28, 1940, she was united in marriage to Gilman Constant in Troy, Kansas. Gilman was engaged in farming so they located around the Albany and Darlington area. Maxine taught school for two years at the Walker District Country School from 1945 to 1946. Gilman preceded her in death March 6, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Cecil Meyers, Faye Burrough and one brother, Morris Consolver. She was a member of the Darlington Baptist Church and a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Darlington. Maxine played the piano for the church and also for the Grand River Pickers for 30 years. Maxine worked as a cook and teachers aid for Head Start retiring in 2002 after 27 years of service. She loved working in her garden and yard, but above all being at home. Survivors: Sons, James Marvin Constant of the home; William Michael Constant and wife Brenda, Albany; Grandson, Jacob (Alisha) Constant, Kansas City, MO; Sister-in-law, Helen Knight, Kansas City and her children, Rob and Karen; Nieces, Pam and Kim of Iowa; Paula Slagle and children of Stanberry; Adored niece, Dorothy Graham and Daughter Susan and family and a very special adopted couple, Donald and Lynn Baily, Raymore, MO. Maxine will be sadly missed by all.
