Obituary

Nellie (Boner) Marsh Willis, 94, was born September 20, 1924 in rural Stanberry, Missouri, and passed away peacefully in the company of her family on Monday morning July 22, 2019 at the Pineview Manor in Stanberry, Missouri.

Nellie was the youngest of six children, three brothers and two sisters. All her siblings William (Bud) Boner, Walt Boner, Homer Wesley (Jim) Boner, Mary Boner, and Hazel (Boner) Murray predecease her.  She is also predeceased by her parents Homer Wesley Boner and Nora Reca Hermann Boner.

At age sixteen, Nellie received the call and was baptized in the creek next to the Mount Zion Church just south and east of Stanberry, near her childhood home.

On December 18, 1943 she married Rufus Edward Marsh at the home of pastor Frank Groom. To this union three boys were born: Larry Edward (Linda) Marsh, Danny Lee (Mindy) Marsh, and David Alan (Tammy) Marsh.  Rufus was killed in a farm accident in October 1964.

In December 1967 she married Warren Edgar Willis who passed away August 6, 2015; leaving a 48-year marriage. From this marriage Robin Lorraine Willis of Albany also survives

Between her two marriages, and the burden of three young boys, she worked at the Gentry County Hospital, the present Mosaic Care Center in Albany. She later worked at the cap factory in Stanberry until her retirement.

In her early married years, she enjoyed sewing, flower gardening, and crocheting, in between helping Rufus milk cows, and helping to operate their small family farm.

In her later years, she enjoyed music shows, TV westerns, canasta, a board game called "Wahoo", and word search puzzles. Her demand for word search puzzle books was outdone only by her need for a supply of adequate pencils and pens.

Nellie had a deep love of all her family, but she was particularly partial to her five grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and the twenty-two great and one great-great grandchild.

Graveside Service and Burial: 11:30 AM Wednesday, July 24 at the Grandview Cemetery, Albany, Missouri. There is no scheduled family visitation, however, friends may call anytime after 2:00 PM on Tuesday at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations in Nellies's honor to the Pineview Manor at Stanberry or Mosaic Hospice.  The family also wishes to recognize the compassionate, tender care given to Nellie by her beloved nursing home staff at Pineview Manor, and the Mosaic Hospice staff.  She received the best of care from both.
