Obituary

Normajean Clara (Shaffer) Cox, 76 of Albany passed away at Golden Living Center in Albany on May 26, 2009 after a short illness. Normajean, the daughter of Blondina (Todd) and Franklin Shaffer was born August 6, 1932 in Gentry County, Missouri. She attended Grandview Grade School, two years at Maysville High School and graduated from King City High School in 1954. She was united in marriage to James B. Cox on December 25, 1954. They were married for 54 years, first living in both Kansas City and Parkville, Missouri. They moved to Rochelle, Illinois in 1962 where they lived for 37 years. They returned to Missouri after retirement in 1999. Normajean was a homemaker and a Tupperware dealer for 21 years. Normajean was a Camp Fire Girl Leader for 10 years. She was a co-owner and worked for Jim's Computer Service, Inc. for 19 years. She was a member of the Virginia Daughters' Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She was a life long flower gardener and especially enjoyed irises and roses. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband James of the home in Albany; brother Forrest (Flora) Shaffer, Bradenton, Fl; 4 children, Beverly Wiginton, Rochelle, IL; Janice (Ray) Nelson, DeKalb, IL; Joseph Cox, Machesney Park, IL; Betty Blecher, DeKalb, IL; 5 Grandchildren, Chris (Becky) Cox, Michael Nelson, Amanda Blecher, Jessica Cox, Stephanie Wiginton; 2 great-grandchildren, Olivia and Addison Cox.
