Opal Martin, 88 of Albany, Missouri passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at an Albany nursing home. Opal, the daughter of Walter Leroy and Elsie Mae (Thompson) Petry was born November 11, 1924 in Gentry County, Missouri. On December 24, 1942, Opal was united in marriage to Thomas Dean Martin. He preceded her in death May 6, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. Opal worked for Old American Insurance. Then she worked as a teller for the Gentry County Bank in Albany before retiring. She was a member of the Albany First Christian Church and CWF. Survivors: son, Rick Martin, Albany; grandson, Lucas (Jeanice) Martin, Lakeland, FL; step-grandson, Eric (Lindsey) Richardson, Lakeland, Fl; great-grandchildren, Carson and Harper; step-great-grandchildren, Cohen, Cale, Ashley and Emily; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Noni and Ernie Lorenson, Gower, MO. Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Monday, October 14 at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany with burial in the Grandview Cemetery, Albany. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday at the chapel, where friends may call anytime after 10:00 AM Monday morning.
