Obituary

Oren Steinman was born along with his twin brother on June 25, 1919 to Frank and Artie (Williams) Steinman. He died March 24, 2016 at Northwest Medical Center in Albany.

Oren attended Wayman Grade School and Albany High School where he graduated in 1937. Upon graduation, he engaged in farming.

He married Vernadene McCampbell on September 28, 1940 in Troy, Kansas. They lived in St. Joseph for two years where he worked for Ted Derley installing appliances. They returned to a farm near Lone Star, Missouri. Oren engaged in farming and dairy cattle with sideline jobs of carpentry. When REA came through with rural electricity, he wired many houses with electricity for the first time.

In 1956, in addition to his farming, Oren started to work for the Missouri Department of Transportation in Albany. In 1962, the family moved to King City due to a transfer to the King City MO DOT. He retired in 1982. He then pursued hobbies of working with horses and having a team which pulled wagons he had built. He was an avid and faithful Kansas City Royals and Chiefs fan.

Oren was one of the signers of the charter to bring FFA to the Albany school in 1937. He served on the board to build the New Haven Apartments in King City. He was a 50 plus year member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Hammer Memorial United Methodist Church.

He liked to build houses. He built one in Albany and three in King City. He wanted to build another one, but his family refused to move and told him they would live with whoever bought the house.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Otis, Jimmie, Kenith and his twin, Loren and sister, Doris Knowles.

Survivors: wife of 75 years, Vernadene; daughters, Judy Steinman, King City; Janet (Paul) Parsons, Albany; grandchildren, Joshua Parsons, Albany; Dr. Leslie (Aaron) Parsons-Barnes DVM, Holt, MO; Lacey (Samuel) Steinhauser, Stanberry; sister, Mildred Snow, Princeton; several nieces and nephews.
