Pauline F. Lippincott, the daughter of Orval and Arlie (Sale) Green was born on January 7, 1922 in Albany, Missouri and passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Albany at the age of 91. On June 26, 1941, Pauline was united in marriage to Vincel Lippincott. To this union two children were born, Sherrie and Terry. Pauline worked at the Fairfax airplane construction plant in Kansas City, Missouri until after the war and then she worked along side her husband, Vincel in the Ferguson Grocery Store in Albany until they purchased and operated Pierce and Lippincott Grocery Store. After Vincel passed away on December 30, 1978, Pauline went to work for Judy Green in her fabric store, called the Four Seasons. "Grandma Cott" as she was known to the grandchildren, was a loving, kind, quiet, conservative, Christian. She loved her family and enjoyed everyone being together. Pauline had lived at Golden Living Center in Albany since November of 2005. She rarely complained or asked for anything even when she needed it. Her devoted friend, Dortha Whiteaker was always near her side and even spoke up for her on many occasions. Dortha always looks at the sunny side of life and her wonderful positive attitude kept Pauline going even when there wasn't much to look forward to. After all, happiness is a state of mind Dortha would say. Pauline, Dortha and Marcaline Brown were in rooms right next to each other at the nursing home. They were often referred to as the "golden girls". Pauline was most happy when Vincel was alive and they could get together with their friends. In 1939, while they were all still in high school, Pauline, Vincel, Sach and Dortha Whitaker would double date, socializing, traveling or dancing at the Why Not of Albany, Hi Ho in Bethany and later St. Joseph Frog Hop. When Vincel and Sach were together, there was never a dull moment. As a family, the Lippincott's, along with the Whiteaker's and Grantham's enjoyed getting together with all their children. Pauline and Vincel belonged to the Dirty Dozen pinochle card group they formed following the war. There are only two survivors of the group and they are Harold Davis and Dortha Whiteaker. Pauline knew when the time came to sell her home and move to a duplex. She was ready, knowing she could no longer maintain the house and property. There was a time when she accidentally locked herself in the garage at the duplex. She slept on a small rug on the floor until her family found her the next day. She had one can of Sprite and it was quite warm that day. Pauline never wanted to bother anyone for her needs. She was strong and her faith never died. Pauline was a member of the Albany United Methodist Church, where she was active in Sunday school and United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Scio Club, Athena, Delta Theta Tau and Girl Scouts of America. Pauline was always fun to be around. She was witty and was always coming up with a good saying to make someone laugh. Pauline instilled values in her family, religion, manners and to treat others the way you would want to be treated. Everyone knew Pauline had a love for chocolate. She might not have been able to eat anything else, but she ate her chocolate. Pauline was a gem. Her family and friends shared a great love for her. They will miss her dearly. She is happy now that she can be with God, Vincel, her parents and all her many friends.
