Phyllis Williamson, 87, of Albany, passed away Friday, September 19, 2014 at Clearview Nursing Home in Mt. Ayr, IA. Phyllis was born on March 12, 1927 in Denver, CO and was the daughter of Guy and Deva (Young) Wood. On October 15, 1944, she was united in marriage to James A. Williamson. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one son, Guy Rodney Williamson. She is survived by a son, Gary Williamson; daughter, Marilyn (Ed) Poff of Albany, MO; brother, Clayton (Carol) Wood of Lone Jack, MO; sister, Shirley Mogan of Plano, TX: two grandsons, Craig (Susan) Poff of West Chester, PA and Curt (Ann) Poff of Oakland, CA; one great-granddaughter, Madison Poff; two great-grandsons, James Poff and Jackson Poff all of West Chester, PA; three nephews, Mike Wood, Greg (Danita) Wood and Doug (Teresa) Mogan; three nieces, Dawn Mogan, Sharon (Wayne) Turley and Lori (Tauren) Leach; great-nephews and great-nieces; and her special little companion, Katie. During their married life Jim and Phyllis lived in many states. Phyllis was a homemaker but also worked outside the home in a variety of secretarial positions. In 1969, she and her husband returned to Albany where they owned and operated Williamson Furniture before retiring in 1982. After her husband's death, Phyllis moved to San Diego to be with her son, Rod. Phyllis loved animals and enjoyed her pet sitting service in Rancho Bernardo, CA. In 2003, Phyllis returned to Albany to make it her home again. Her leisure time was spent with her many friends enjoying her love of ballroom dancing, music, travel and being with her family. Phyllis' claim to fame was winning the Showcase Showdown on the Price is Right and meeting Bob Barker. "Grandma Phyllis" will always be remembered for her love of travel, love of dogs and her dog pampering, jelly beans, enjoying her great-grandson's piano playing, for immediately accepting her grandson's wife as one of her grandchildren, her unconditional love for her family, her laughter and beautiful essence. Phyllis was a member of the First Baptist Church in Albany. Memorial Service: 2:00 PM. Saturday, October 25 at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany with inurnment in the Grandview Cemetery, Albany. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the chapel, where friends may call anytime after 9:00 AM on Saturday morning.
