Retha "Sissy" Marie Weddle, 81 of Albany left this world to meet her Lord and Savior on October 24, 2009 at her home. Retha, the daughter of Harley Porter and Crystal Vondetta (Rinehart) Weddle was born August 12, 1928 at "The Nation" in Allendale, Missouri. Retha was the eldest of six children. Retha graduated from Albany High School in 1947. After graduation she worked at the Rigney Theater. Retha left that job to begin her long career as an administrative assistant to the Gentry County Prosecuting Attorney, retiring after 60 years of service. Retha was a very active, devoted faithful member of the Albany Assembly of God Church, where she served as teacher, secretary and treasurer. She loved her hobbies of knitting, crocheting, quilting, embroidering and sewing. Retha never missed a day of keeping her daily journal, reading scriptures and praying for her family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Ed, Ron and JR (Short) Weddle, nephew Dennis (Buck) Weddle, great-nephews, Joseph Weddle and Garrett Ellis, great niece, Kayla Weddle, two sisters-in-law, Thadrel and Carol Weddle and the love of her life Gene Batson. Survivors: two sisters, Dixie (Bob) Sherrill, Martinsville, MO; Judy (Allen)Ward, Des Moines, IA; sister-in-law, Frances Weddle, Albany; 21 nieces and nephews; 44 great-nieces and nephews; 12 great-great nieces and nephews along with one on the way; and a host of extended family, friends and her beloved dog Checkers and cat Toby.
