Rodney Dean
Holcomb
Feb 26, 1957 — Aug 30, 2024
Rodney Dean Holcomb, 67 years old of Douglass, Kansas passed away Friday, August 30th, 2024 at St. Francis hospital in Wichita, Kansas. He was surrounded by loved ones and passed peacefully after his short fight with cancer.
Rodney was born February 26th, 1957 in Coffey, Missouri to Charles and Ruby (Ward) Holcomb. He was a wild child that grew up on a Dairy farm and "graduated" school at the ripe age of 15. He always loved to talk about his mom cooking him a dozen eggs, a pound of bacon with toast for breakfast after he went out to milk in the mornings.
As Rodney grew older he loved building fast cars and was a ladies man. On September 9th, 1977 he married Connie Jo Holcomb (Willis) of Albany, Missouri. Of this union came their 3 daughters, Melissa, Bobbi Sue and Kristin. Rodney's daughters were the light of his life. The only thing that surpassed them was his grandchildren being born. From Melissa he gained Casey, Keera and Chance. Bobbi gave him Jalaina, Adrian and Willow. Kristin gave him Cameron, Ruby and Brycen.
"Pa" was very good at spoiling the grandkids. He loved spending time in the garage and showing them how to tinker on things. He was the type of Pa to let the kids drink Mt. Dew and have cookies before dinner. His grandkids were his pride and joy.
Rodney loved his family deeply. He never had sons but he had his nephews and was their uncle Hot Rod. He really enjoyed helping them get into mischief and giving his sisters (Blenda and Rebecca) a hard time.
He and his brother got to spend a few years farming together later in life and Rodney was very proud to be a part of Randy's last harvest.
He is survived by his daughters, Melissa (Rick) Dykes of Lawrence, Bobbi Sue Condon of Derby, Kristin Holcomb-Taylor of Douglass, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, his sisters, Blenda (George) Fisher of Atlanta Kansas, Rebecca (Kenny) Barker of Augusta, Kansas, and many nephews, as well as Anita Vigil his best friend and companion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Ruby Holcomb, brother, Randy Holcomb, sister, Glenda Summa, and nephew, Casey Holcomb.
